About Koh Ker

Koh Ker served as the capital of the Khmer Empire from 928 to 944 AD under King Jayavarman IV. It spans 81 square kilometers and contains over 180 ancient monuments. The site is known for Prasat Thom, a 36-meter tall, seven-tiered sandstone pyramid.

Because the park is 120 kilometers northeast of Siem Reap, it sees fewer visitors than the main Angkor complex. Read our Koh Ker vs Angkor guide to see how the two sites compare.

Only about two dozen temples are currently accessible. You must stay on marked paths because surrounding jungle areas are not fully demined.

Our guide Sean and our driver Thy gave us a great tour of Ankor Wat and the surrounding area. We did the 4 day tour which covered all the major temples plus the waterfall. They did their best to make sure we were well taken care of and answered any questions we had. Highly recommended

I joined the 4-day tour led by August and it exceeded all my expectations! He was incredibly knowledgeable and provided us deep insights into Cambodia’s culture, history and religions. He also helped us to capture amazing photos at every stops. I highly recommend taking a tour with August for an unforgettable experience!

Best driver goes to Saray for my trip to Kor Ken and of course not forgetting my guide, Mr PHYROM. Loving their company for this trip. Saray is so attentive to our needs and discomfort so he is always preparing cold water and wet towels to receive us is when we are back from our temples Mr PHYROM is very detailed on the history on the temples we visit and of course our best photographer also. No regret

Guide knew exactly how to pace this outing so we could maximize the experience without being overwhelmed. By recommending which temples to focus on, we had plenty of time to appreciate the structures, history, and take pictures. Our party had plenty of time to climb the pyramid temple and admire the surrounding area.
